MICHAEL G. WINSTON, Ph.D. has a career of distinction in executive positions for three decades, in five Fortune 50 companies, and across three industries. As Managing Director and Global Head of Leadership and Organization Strategy, he works closely with C-Suite Officers to develop business models, craft strategies and structure, create cultures and develop leaders. He served in executive positions for Motorola, Merrill Lynch, McDonnell Douglas, Lockheed and Countrywide. At each company, he received rapid promotions and ultimately held the senior-most position in the organization in his discipline. His long list of awards includes three chairman’s awards.
He has lectured at renowned university executive programs worldwide including INSEAD in Fountainbleu, France; University of Warwick in Coventry, England; Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts; University of California at Berkeley; University of Santa Clara in California; Stichting de Baak in Noordwijk, the Netherlands; Singapore Institute of Management; Management Centre Europe in Belgium and scores of Fortune 500 companies, including the Chairman’s 12 at KPMG. and the Milken Global Initiative. He delivered the keynote speech at the Global Lean Six Sigma Annual Program.

He shared a podium with Hewlett-Packard Chairwoman Carly Fiorina shortly before she ran for President of the United States and with Vaira Vīķe-Freiberga, during her two-terms as President of Latvia. Michael was Distinguished Adjunct Professor at Stichting de Baak in Noordwijk, the Netherlands for seventeen (17) consecutive years delivering 105 three to five-day lectures on Managing Strategic Change.
Michael Winston holds a Ph. D. from the University of Illinois, graduating with a 5.0 GPA on a 5-point scale, and a Master’s Degree from the University of Notre Dame (with Distinction). He attended executive programs at Stanford University and the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School as a Lockheed Corporation ‘high potential.’ He was named “Best Instructor” at Pepperdine University, University of Illinois and University of California, Irvine.
Michael was Co-Chair of Motorola’s inaugural 6 Sigma Committee and Motorola’s Latin-American Strategy to quickly ramp up revenues, profits, and net new business striving to beat $10 Billion in revenues in the Region by 2002. This super-stretch goal was set in 1998 and was eclipsed.
Michael is a Co-Founder of Bank Whistle-blowers United, an organization focused on educating the public and preventing a replay of the financial crisis of 2008. Michael was a co-recipient of a coveted “Telly” award in 2017 for one of the television shows on which he appeared about the financial meltdown. In 2018 he won the coveted Inspirique Award for public service and ethics. After devoting himself to pro-bono work for the past several years, Michael is now looking for his next big thing in the corporate sector, on the speaker’s platform and in the governance arena.
