"Authority on Following Through At Every Level"
Laurence Haughton Expertise: Improving Follow-Through •More Effective Leadership •Making Speed Your Competitive Advantage •21st Century Sales Strategies
Fee Range: $10,000 to $15,000
Location: California
Laurence Haughton is a business writer, lecturer, and management strategist.

His latest book is titled It's Not What You Say… It's What You Do - How Following Through at Every Level Can Make or Break Your Company.

Haughton spent two years investigating the reasons why so many organizations fail to follow through on their best-laid plans and strategies. Then Haughton found a unique group of front-line managers who had cracked the code on follow-through - from IKEA, Charles Schwab, The Wall Street Journal, Time-Warner, Yellow-Roadway and scores of other organizations across every sector. In It's Not What You Say… It's What You Do Haughton shares their stories, strategies, and secrets - detailing exactly what managers must do to close the gap between what they expect and what actually gets done by their teams.
In 2001 Haughton wrote It's Not the Big that Eat the Small… It's the FAST that Eat the Slow with Jason Jennings. This was the pair's breakthrough book - a Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and New York Times bestseller that was translated for sale in 26 countries around the world.

Prior to becoming a bestselling business writer, Haughton worked as a management strategist, researcher, and consultant - advising clients in media, technology, distribution, and professional services.

Workshop Titles:
  • The Art Of Following Through - How To Make Sure That What's Expected Gets Done
Over the last 40 years, a whopping 83 percent of company slowdowns were not triggered by outside forces (like the economy) but instead were caused by internal, controllable issues that got little or no follow-through.
In this workshop, bestselling business author Laurence Haughton identifies the reasons why great ideas and performance improving strategies slip through the cracks. Then, Haughton explains exactly what leaders must do to close the gap between what their organization sets out to accomplish and what actually gets done.

  • It's Not The Big That Eat The Small… It's The Fast That Eat The Slow
There was a time when each new day looked like the day before and a manager's main challenge was to keep things steady. Change was measured in decades back then and conventional wisdom said "the biggest, most established companies would eat smaller competitors for breakfast."
But suddenly all the conventional wisdom was shattered as FAST companies across all sectors ate their bigger, slower moving competitors.
In this workshop Haughton explains what makes "big" a bad bet and what you can do to get your teams to think fast, decide fast, get to market quick, and sustain speed long after the mood has passed.

  • Creating "Hot Teams" And "Hot Team Leaders"
Every management initiative or company project does not require "hot" teams.
When people can do their jobs with their heads down - giving assignments their best effort but with little concern about the effect of their decisions or behavior on others - and the group can still achieve its big objective, hot teams are not crucial.
On the other hand, when the individual's willingness to look beyond their self-interests and communicate, coordinate and cooperate with others can make or break the team's success, hot teams are critical.
In this workshop Haughton explains the dos and don'ts of hot teamwork and what it takes to be a hot team leader.
